Why You Shouldn't Wait until the New Year to Get Started

It’s the busy time of year!

From holiday parties to gift wrapping, cookie baking, kids’ holiday show schedules, and more, it can feel overwhelming trying to get everything on your to do list done in December.

You may be tempted to hold off on working on you and your health during this month entirely.

We hear it. “I’ll just wait until the New Year. It’s too busy for me this month.”

Here’s why you’ll be thanking yourself if you get started NOW as opposed to waiting until the New Year.

Why You Shouldn't Wait until the New Year to Get Started

Exercise gives you energy

Now more than ever, you could use a bit of an energy boost, right? Do you know what naturally gives you energy? Exercise! Those endorphins will help fuel you as you navigate all of those holiday wish lists.

Though it may feel like you don’t have enough time to add in another thing to your list. It actually will help to give you back time since you’ll be able to get more done and done well and efficiently because you’ll be feeling energized and happy.

Imagine rolling through the holiday season feeling energize as opposed to tired and drained.

You’ll be more likely to stick with a plan

So many people like to start new goals on the first of the month or a Monday or a new year.

It makes sense.

The new year or season or month is like a fresh slate and, believe me, I love the beautiful symmetry of starting in the beginning of a new month or year.

However, sometimes we box ourselves into these arbitrary rules we make up for ourselves. There is no rule that you have to start on a Monday, just like there’s no rule that you have to get your workout done in the morning or even that you have to workout for 45 minutes or it doesn’t count.

We make up these rules for ourselves at a detriment.

When you are able to acknowledge that they are unnecessary and you don’t have that all-or-nothing mindset, you are better able to give yourself grace and stick with a plan even if you get knocked off or busy every so often. And, let’s be honest, we get busy all the time, right?

No one ever regrets getting started

The only thing people regret is not starting soon enough. Hopefully we have you convinced to get started on your plan to take care of you and your health. If you need some more guidance, email “fitness consultation” to [email protected] and we would be glad to connect with you to come up with a plan to get you on track.
