How to Navigate the Remix Fitness Classes Schedule

If you’re new to Remix or working out, checking out the Remix schedule can be a bit overwhelming. Even if you’re not new, it can be a lot!

We guess it just comes with the territory of having one of the largest schedules around.

We pride ourselves on having such an extensive schedule. We know how hard it can be to find the time to workout and to get motivated to workout, so we want to make sure to offer plenty of classes and times so you can make it work.

Since we DO offer such a large schedule of classes, we want to help guide you through it so you feel confident and comfortable walking into class or pressing play for the first time.

How to Navigate the Remix Fitness Classes Schedule

Keep reading below to find out more about how to navigate the Remix Fitness Classes Schedule so you can make connections, achieve results and find YOUR mix!

Intervals vs To the Beat

All of our fitness classes can be divided into two distinct types of workouts. Interval-based or to the beat.

Classes that are interval based are most often set to a timer. In interval-based classes, instructors will often give a set amount of time to complete an exercise and you can complete them at your own pace. Music is just background noise during interval-based fitness classes.

What classes are interval-based classes? Any type of classes with the word “bootcamp” in the title. Tabata, lift classes are also included.

Classes that rely on the beat of the music form the to the beat category of fitness classes at Remix. These classes don’t typically use specific set amounts of time and instead of focusing on the beat of the music to keep time. Classes that are to the beat tend to be barre, sculpt and combination classes like method or cardio/sculpt, kickboxing and more.

What about yoga and pilates? Yoga and pilates are in a category of their own since they really aren’t interval based or to the beat. Instead, yoga and pilates are more breath focused. Instructors will encourage you to move based on your breath and go at your own pace. They don’t typically rely on any timer, intervals or music to guide.

Why do you keep saying “typically?” At Remix, we encourage our instructors to be authentic to themselves. We want to create the very best experience for you every time and we think that letting our instructors be themselves vs fitting into a cookie-cutter mold is the best way to achieve that experience. As a result, you’ll often get a mix depending on who is teaching the class. While kickboxing is typically a to the beat type of workout, we do have instructors who enjoy throwing in some intervals here and there. This post is to be used as a guide, but we definitely recommend getting out there, trying the classes, mixing it up yourself to find out which classes are your favorites.

Now that we’ve discussed intervals vs to the beat classes, let’s dive into the five different categories that make up Remix Fitness Classes.

Strength Training Fitness Classes

Any class that helps increase your strength and build muscle will fall into the category of strength training. Strength training is extremely beneficial. It helps with your mood, body composition, bone health, avoiding injury and more!

Classes such as barre and pilates tend to focus on muscular endurance training or how long you can use a muscle. In those types of classes, you’ll find lots of repetitions and light weights.

Next, any type of classes with the word sculpt in the title will encourage you to grab slightly heavier weights and use less repetitions.

Finally, you’ll be grabbing the heaviest weights you can hold for any of our lift classes.

Cardio Fitness Classes

Cardio classes are any type of class that works your cardiovascular system. Cardio workouts are another key part of a healthy fitness routine. Our cardio classes fall into this category, but so do our kickboxing classes as well as our spin classes.

HIIT, or high intensity interval training, is another form of cardio that is interval based.

Spin is a great cardio option if you want to avoid jumping, however, you can still get a great cardio workout in our cardio classes without any jumping at all since our instructors always provide lots of options and modifications and levels for all.

Combination Classes

When you are short on time or you just like to combine your workouts together, our combination classes are a great way to get your workout done.

Our method class, for example, is a to the beat mix of cardio, sculpt and barre workouts. It’s a lot of fun and the time goes by SO fast since you are mixing it up.

Cardio/Sculpt, HIIT/Sculpt, Kickboxing/Sculpt, Spin/Bootcamp and so many more are all examples of combination classes.

Flexibility & Balance Classes

We discuss yoga and pilates above briefly, but they are both really great workouts to help improve your flexibility, strength and balance. They focus on your core and your breath as well as mindfulness while you are working out.

Incorporating yoga, flex and pilates classes into the mix can help you avoid injury, increase your core strength as well as relieve stress.

Specific Muscle Focused Classes

Finally, you can also find specific muscle focused classes on our schedule. Classes like Remix Arms, Remix Core, Leg/Glutes Remix, Core/Arms Remix and Core/Booty Remix are great ways to really target specific muscle groups.

These classes tend to be to the beat and strength based.
