Regardless of why so many feel that guilt, we’ve got tips on how to take time for you and not feel bad about it. Keep reading for more…

How to Take Time for You And Not Feel Bad About It

Recognize the Guilt & Dive into Your Mindset

First, it’s important to recognize when you are feeling guilty and really dive into your mindset. Rename activities and tasks in your head so you can feel less guilty about it. Instead of saying, “going to the gym” or “working out” use the words, “taking care of myself.” Insert “taking care of myself” for anything you need to do to take care of yourself and it’ll help open your eyes to the importance of doing those tasks. Then, you can ask yourself…

  • Why are you feeling guilty about taking care of yourself?

It’s a lot easier to see that you don’t need to have any guilt for taking care of yourself and your health. Remind yourself that your health is top priority and if you want to continue to serve others in your life then you need to be healthy and well first.

Write Your Priorities Down & Look to Them Often

Speaking of priorities, write them down and look to them often. Put them in a place that you’ll see frequently…

  • Hanging in your office or a spot in your home that you pass by often

  • On a little post-in in your car

  • On your phone background

Whenever you’re feeling guilty about taking time for you, you can look to those priorities that are you important to you and you can ask yourself…

  • Does this activity align with my priorities?

And if it doesn’t then you can ask yourself what activity you could be doing instead that would align with your priorities.
