Why You Need an Accountability Partner
Did you know that those with an accountability partner are more likely to achieve their goals than without?
The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) found the following in a recent study: 65% of their participants completed a goal if they asked someone to hold them accountable to their goals and fully committed to accomplishing their project with their accountability partner.
Wow!
It’s a big part of why we started Remix Fitness. We’ve been in big box gyms with lots of variety, but they’ve felt cold and we’ve felt alone walking in there. We created Remix as a community because we wanted to foster a supportive environment where you could count on someone to be there to push you to reach your goals and your potential.
Why You Need an Accountability Partner
They’ll keep you motivated
It’s nice to have someone there in your corner when you have goals you want to achieve. It can be extremely difficult finding that intrinsic motivation, but when you have someone right beside you, it makes it more doable. You don’t want to let that person down.
They’ll make self care more fun
It also makes self care more fun when you have someone with you. You aren’t alone. You can commiserate together and laugh your way through the tough parts. Soon enough, you’ll start to actually look forward to your self care, especially if you know you have someone there to make it that much more fun.
How do you find an accountability partner?
Okay, so you realize the importance of finding an accountability partner, now how are you supposed to find one?
You can grab a friend or a family member of course. You can also look for someone in class or in our Facebook Accountability Group. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone who isn’t too close to you where they’ll feel bad holding you accountable. It’s also helpful to have someone who is in the same boat as you in wanting to achieve their goals. You can also book a VIP call with us and we are happy to be your accountability partner as well!
How do you hold each other accountable?
Now that you have your partner, what’s the best way to hold each other accountable? It’s helpful to have set times where you check in with each to let each other know how you are doing. If you both want to wake up and exercise at 6:00 am, then you can make sure to text or send a message at that time. It’s also good to share your goals and share your future check in points with each other. SMART goals are time bound, so make sure you are setting an end date to check in on your goals and it would be great to connect with your accountability partner at that point to see whether you need to modify your goals or give yourself a little reward.
