How to End the Year Strong

Can you believe we are already in the final month of the year? Time moves so fast!

It feels even faster at this time of year. Holiday parties, presents, baking, lights, and more, it feels so busy and can feel very overwhelming. You’re not alone! There are many out there feeling overwhelmed and stressed out by the holidays.

Fortunately, we’ve got some tips for you to help you get through the holidays and the end of year feeling strong.

How to End the Year Strong

Don’t put yourself on the back burner.

It can be tempting during all of the hustle and bustle to tell yourself, “Ah, I’m just too busy now. I’m going to wait until the new year until I start getting back into a routine and focusing on my health.”

Unfortunately, it’s often not that simple.

Though things can really feel stressful and busy at the holidays, it’s always going to be busy and stressful throughout the year. Just because you wait until January doesn’t mean your to do list is going to fade away to nothing.

If you want to be healthy and strong for life, then it’s crucial to find ways to make time for you and your health during all the busy times of your life.

Now, is not the time to push you and your health to the side. In fact, it’s more important now than ever. It’ll help distract you from all of those worries and help relieve stress and give you energy so you can get all of the things done on your to do list.

Celebrate small wins

If you’re someone who typically likes to take 5-6 classes a week and go hard and tough all year long, it can feel like a let down if you have to take your fitness routine down a notch during a busier time of year.

That’s okay!

Sometimes we forget that recovery is an important part of building muscles. Anytime you strength train, you break those muscles down, and it’s necessarily to give yourself rest so you can build them back up stronger than before.

It can be tempting to adopt that “all-or-nothing” mindset, but if you want to stay healthy and strong for life, than it’s best you ditch it.

Kids are sick? Instead of forgetting your entire fitness routine that day, pop on a virtual class or a recording, even if it’s not what you’d typically do because then you at least get some movement in.

Have a holiday party during the time you usually work out? Try to go for a walk during the day or make sure you book your classes for the other days.

Yes, it’s a busy time, and you may need to reduce the amount of time you spend working out, however, you shouldn’t feel bad about it at all. Celebrate the fact that you are continuing to stick with your routine and keep moving throughout the month and it’ll be even easier to gradually progress back to a fuller schedule come next month.

We have a 12 days of fitness challenge to keep you on track.

We have many members who come 5-6 days a week, but we also have members who come 1-2 days a week and we want you to know that even 12 classes a month is a HUGE win and it is something that should be celebrated!! Everyone is on their own fitness journey.
