How to Go Away Without Losing Your Progress
First step, get your mindset right. Ditch that all-or-nothing mindset.
When you have an all-or-nothing mindset, you are more likely to get thrown off track from a little time away then if you have a more flexible way of thinking. It’s better to move your body even a little than not at all.
When you have that all-or-nothing mindset then it can be really tough to go away on vacation because it’s easy to get thrown off and think, “well, I’m already having a dessert, so I might as well binge the entire time with unhealthy foods and go all out.” You can find that balance between enjoying yourself, but not going overboard if you’re more flexible.
Focus on simple ways to keep yourself on track.
Focus on moving your body and trying to add in some salads and smoothies while you are away. There are a lot of active ways you can spend your time on vacation like hiking, swimming and even shopping, seeing the sites. That’s a great way to keep moving.
It’s also a great opportunity to mix it up and try something new while you are away. All of the mixing it up you’re doing at home will hopefully help you feel more comfortable stepping outside of your comfort zone while away.
You can also bring the mix with you with our virtual classes. It’s easy to pop on even for a little bit while you are away if you want to maintain your routine. Just today I had someone who was away taking a virtual class. She didn’t have weights with her, but she did have corn hole bean bags nearby and she used those as weights. You can mix it up in so many different ways!
Set yourself up for success when you return.
If you go away one of the most difficult parts is coming back to reality. Set yourself up for success by booking your classes BEFORE you go away. That way they are in your calendar and you have that reminder as soon as you come home to get back on track. You don’t even have to think about it.
