How to Take Time for Self Care And Not Feel Bad About It

We have all been told the importance of self care. It’s good for your body, your mind, and your overall well-being.

Yet, it’s often easier said than done, right?

So often, we feel guilty, especially females, for taking time for ourselves. We are so often putting others’ needs before our own. Our kids, our spouses, our jobs often take priority.

How are we supposed to embrace self care and not feel bad about it? Here are some tips:

How to Take Time for Self Care and Not Feel Bad About It

Fix your mindset

First, get into the right mindset. If we want to be the best mothers, spouses, friends, sisters, aunts, etc. then we need to be our best. How do we get there? Self care.

Sometimes all you need to do is remind yourself that exercise, eating right, meditation, or however else you need to take care of yourself must take place in order to take care of others.

Prioritize your Self Care

When many of us picture self care, we think of bubbles baths, chocolates, and shopping. While those can be a part of self care, they aren’t the whole picture.

Self care is the active pursuit of bettering one’s health.

When you are planning out your week ahead, focus on prioritizing self care. What goals do you want to achieve? What’s most important to you? How do you want to feel?

Then, take a look at the self care you have planned for yourself. Does this type of self care serve your goals or what you want to achieve and feel?

If you want to feel better, look better in your clothes, and feel less stressed, then exercise is an important component to add into your week.

Prioritize what type of self care is important to you and make the most impact in your life, and be sure to schedule it in.

Schedule your self care.

Once you’ve narrowed down what’s important to you, add it right into your calendar. Make an appointment with yourself, for yourself.

It can be difficult to follow through. Life is busy! It becomes easy to push yourself aside.

When you add it into your calendar, then it’s like an appointment you’ve set with yourself. Don’t miss it!
