How Not to Lose Track of Your Goals During a Busy Time

Write your goals down

Back when I was in high school and college many years ago, the best way for me to learn any new material was to write it down. I’m not sure why, but writing down the words made it stick in my brain. If I tried to just remember them or just read from a book, then I would have a really tough time remembering.

It’s easy to forget your goals if you don’t write them down.

During this busy time, it’s especially important to have those reminders for what you want to achieve.

Write down your goals and keep them in a spot you look often so you don’t forget. Then, set an alarm or a reminder for yourself to check in with your goals to keep you on track.

Plan ahead

Weekly planning is more important than ever during a busy time of year.

Schedule time in your calendar to map out your week ahead.

Make sure you include time for meal prepping as well as your workouts.

Be sure to include everything in your calendar and overestimate the amount of time it’s going to take you to get things done so you have plenty of wiggle room.

Follow the 2 Minute Rule & Batch tasks

When it’s a busy time of year, it can be easy to push things off. I like to use the 2 minute rule. When faced with some kind of task that needs to get done, I ask myself, “Can this be done in 2 minutes?” If the answer is yes, then I quick get it done.

It’s also helpful to batch tasks.

Take email for example. So many of us are alerted every time we get an email and check it numerous times throughout the day. It takes time each time we open it up.

Instead, batch it and plan it out for a certain amount of time each day. Answer or file away all of your emails in one sitting and then put it away until the next day.

Even though sticking to your goals can be a challenge during a busy time of year, it can be done! If you’re looking for more guidance, join us for a free call…
