The Reason Giving to Others Will Make You Healthier

You may have a good sense of the things you should do in order to live a healthy lifestyle.

Exercise, a good diet, sleeping well, keep stress levels low are all important parts of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Yet, did you know that giving to others will also make you healthier?

It’s true.

Studies have shown that giving to others will not only help you sleep better, but have positive benefits on your physical health and lead to longevity as well.

The Reason Giving to Others Will Make You Healthier

Since we’re all about self care and the importance of taking care of yourself in order to take care of others around you, it’s interesting that taking care of others can also help with your health too.

It makes sense.

So much of our stress stems from a focus on ourselves and what’s going on around us. Just last week we talked about the “Spotlight Effect.” The idea that we tend to think people notice things about us more than they actually do.

How many times have you stepped away from an interaction and thought about what you could have done differently or worried what people thought about you or if you did the wrong thing?

When we put the focus on others and giving to others, it takes that stress that can often build when we are focusing on ourselves.

The good news?

It doesn’t take that much to give back to others.

Simply smiling at others, sending a compliment or reaching out to see if someone needs to talk can light up those feel good sensors in your brain while also doing the same for that person you helped.

In the studio, we see so much giving going on. You, our Remix community, are always quick to jump in. So many of you help to pass out wipes, bring those bikes in and out and lend a hand when someone missed what equipment that they need for class.

When you see all that giving, you can’t help but be inspired to give yourself.

This is why we love our small studio so much. Often times, you can get lost in a large, overwhelming gym. Here, you’re a part of our community.
