Remix Client Spotlight with Barb
We just love Barb and love seeing all of her accomplishments she has made at Remix. She’s always a friendly face in class and we can’t get enough of her style and funny wit. She has lost 40 pounds since being at Remix so far and is stronger and has so much more energy. Thank you for being an amazing member, Barb. We love having you at Remix!
1. Tell us about you… background, family, work, etc. I grew up in this area, moved to NYC and lived there until about 2 years ago when I moved back here with my husband and son. I just turned the big 4-0!
2. How and why did you start taking Remix classes? I knew I wanted to get into shape but didn't really know how to start. I had let myself go since we moved from the city. I wasn't walking as much anymore and wasn't shlepping up and down stairs all day so I had no exercise at all and I would eat without thought... breakfast from Starbucks or Dunkin, lunch at Wawa, Panera, Chipotle, and I wasn't making good choices. I joined many gyms over the years and did Pure Barre but nothing really stuck. I wouldn't push myself, and I'd get bored. I heard about Remix through my son's school and on a whim, won a 5 class package at a school fundraiser. That was in Feb 2019 and it still took me until that summer to try my first class.
5. When can we typically find you taking Remix classes? Tues and Thurs nights at 715. Saturdays usually 845 am with Meg and whichever 945 am follows. Sundays, it depends, but usually another double in the morning. I want to squeeze in one more day during the week, but so far I can’t figure out timing!
6. What would you tell anyone that hasn’t tried Remix classes yet? Try 5 classes. Don't just do one. Buy a 5 class pack and try a few different classes. You'll be hooked! Also, don't feel embarrassed if you cant do everything. I couldn’t hold a plank, even on my knees for more than a few seconds. I modified everything at first, but stuck with it. In time, you’ll notice that you can do more and more and more! That’s a pretty great feeling.

3. What do you love about Remix? First, I love the classes! They are HARD, but also good for all levels. I never thought I would like any classes imagining them like 1980s style aerobics. But no, these are all super challenging but also you never feel pressured to do something you can't, there are always modifications. Second, I love the community- meeting other fun, smart, interesting people who are supportive with no judgement.
4. What are the changes you’ve seen in yourself? Losing 40 pounds so far as been a big change and that doesn’t take into account the muscle gain. I’ve also overhauled my eating as well. I know what to eat and how to eat well, I just wasn't doing it. On top of the weight loss, I cant believe the change in my body. I'm not at my lowest weight, but I’m at the thinnest I’ve been since high school. I feel strong and full of energy, and shopping is soooo much more fun now!
